EU Policy

Corporate Social Responsibility is part of the Europe 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. It can help to shape the kind of competitiveness model that Europe wants.

In March 2010 the European Commission made a commitment to “renew the EU strategy to promote Corporate Social Responsibility as a key element in ensuring long term employee and consumer trust”.

The European Commission launched a consultation on the topic of Packaged Retail Investment Products (PRIPs) initiative, to which the AI CSRR responded: AI CSRR Response. The PRIP’s initiative is about the scope, the legislative approach and the content of a possible regime for product disclosure including ESG matters in retail investment. It emphasises the importance of CSR and challenges businesses to take leadership in this field. It also outlines ways in which the Commission intends to continue to promote CSR as a voluntary concept, with an emphasis on dialogue between stakeholders.
